Description

This is my first charcoal drawing ever and I never thought I would like charcoal but I do. I was a little scared to start at first because it was such a big paper to work on, and I had never used this material but I love it. I am very proud of this one. It's not perfect but it doesn't have to be ;) The photo is a little blurry but I don't have a better one so bare with me ^^

This was an assignment for my 2D class last june. They found mine best in class which I found amazing of course.
I did put some color in the bird, but kept it very light. But as you can see, a little color can mean a whole lot!
I tried a lot of things out with the material and I definately want to do more charcoal drawings.

Everything looks good. I would suggest working on the feet and their position. It looks a little misplaced/misshaped. The detail of the feet could also use some work. Also, I am not sure if it's cause it smudged off or your scanner's fault but the back of the bird needs more charcoal. (It looks faded off to me though.)
The color certainly did add some effect to it, perhaps to make it appear more realistic... It is a nice touch. The branches look very well done.
And the clouds do as well, although I would suggest smudging them a little more (perhaps with a stiff brush?). And then reapplying some charcoal again to give it more definition.
